Meeting of UDF with speech by Archie Gumede

Large meeting of the United Democratic Front in Cape Town. Speech by Archie Gumede is featured in which he explains that the UDF is a front, not an organization, and that all groups in the front need not agree on everything. Argues that it is important for organizations to act together. Gumede was an activist from the time of the Congress of the People in 1955. He was active on issues of education after the 1976 student uprising and chaired the Release Mandela Committee in the 1980s. He helped to plan the UDF and served on its steering committee.
